First destination!

It could only be Pontevedra! The first place I would like to show you is my town.

Pontevedra is a provincial capital located in an area known as "Rías Baixas" (coast). This area is famous for the good weather, if you compare with other sites of Galicia.

Pontevedra is an administrative, turistic and services city. It´s name derives from the Latin and it means "Old Town".

You can visit some interesting sites in Pontevedra like museums, churches and cathedrals. Also you can enjoy the old town which has a lot of squares and stone streets with a lively and magical atmosphere.

If you visit Pontevedra in summer, you have to go to its white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. These beaches are located in areas either Bueu or Sanxenxo. Pontevedra has also a river, and you can go to the river beach if you prefer fresh water. Attention! Both sea water as the river is very, very cold.

Gastronomy is another of the charms of Pontevedra. Pie, octopus, seafood, etc., will make your stay more enjoyable.

If you want to sleep in the city you can stay in its hotels, that compared to large cities, are very cheap. The price ranges between 30-60 euros per night. Some names are: Vedra Hotel, Hotel Rúas, Galicia Palace, Hotel Rías Baixas, etc.

In addition, you can visit this amazing city on special dates such as holiday parties. Carnival in February, Easter in April, "La Peregrina" (Pontevedra´s parties) in August (with bulls and attractions), "Feira Franca" in September (medieval festival).

You can reach the city by different transports: train, bus, private car, boat or plane (nearest airport in Vigo).

So go ahead and come to my small city which has plenty of opportunities to have fun and enjoy yourself.
