The most haunted city in Galicia!

Good afternoon friends!

Today I want to introduce you the city which I consider the most haunted in my land. This is Santiago de Compostela. I think it is necessary to publish a post just for it.

Santiago is the capital of Galicia located in the province of A Coruña.

We can find in Galicia the headquarters of the regional government of Galicia (Xunta de Galicia) and the Parliament.

The city is known for being an important center of Christian Pilgrimage, like Jerusalem or Rome.

Its cathedral is of great artistic importance and also it´s relevant its university (more than 500 years of history) which gives the city a student environment each course.

Currently the city bases its economy on different activities such as university, government, cultural tourism, industry (especially the wood industry (a company known as Finsa) and the telecommunications industry with a company called Blusens).

Without doubt the most noteworthy of Santiago is the richness of its heritage. We can visit places like: The Cathedral (with ist porch known as "Pórtico de la Gloria" and "El Botafumeiro"), squares in the old town as the Obradoiro or Quintana, the Hostel of the Catholic Kings, Rajoy Palace, Food Market, its street when you can enjoy tapas and wine known as "Rúa do Franco" and a lot of museums.

To reach the city you can take a plane (the airport is just 10 km from the city), by bus, train or car.

Also if you go to Santiago you have to buy some typical products in order to remember it, like "Santiago Stones"(chocolates), a Scallop Shell, Santiago cake, etc.

To stay in Santiago there are a variety of hostels, guesthouses and hotels in the city with very affordable prices. I recommend you the small hostels in the old town, for example, one of my friend Carmela called "Stellae Luscofusco".

Santiago is a city with gray sky but with a spectacular and intriguing mystery.

A visit to Galicia without passing through Santiago will not let you know the charms of the land of the witches!
